Medvedev says Russia’s economy to grow 1–2% in 2017

MOSCOW, Mar 6 (PRIME) -- Russia’s economy is expected to grow 1–2% in 2017, and a plan of action being developed by the government is aimed at growth of 3% and higher by 2025, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said in an interview with Rossiya 1 television channel broadcast on March 4.

“The weather in the economy is changing. It is absolutely obvious that our economy has entered, maybe not very confidently yet, the growth stage. The decline is over. This year we expect growth of 1% to 2%. This is not bad already, because this is the European level of growth, although we would like a bigger one. And that program that we are currently preparing – the government’s plan of action until 2025, is aimed at 3% and higher economic growth in order to exceed global growth,” he said.

In late 2016, President Vladimir Putin ordered the government to prepare a plan of action to ensure the country’s economic growth exceeding the global economy growth rate by 2019–2020.
